As a consequence, AC-LED emerges at the right moment. It is a kind of LED product which integrates various processing technologies including many components or kernel without extra transformer, rectifier or driving circuit. The alternating current of the alternating network can drive it directly.
It makes LED commodities directly applied to household and offices without current converter. The research has indicated that the direct current with a complicated structure greatly affected by the temperature and the working lifetime is less than 10 thousand hours under the peak efficiency, far lower than the working life span of LED chips (50 to 100 thousand hours). AC-LED technology, however, has broken through the bottleneck of this technology thoroughly: the basic concept is not using extra (other than the chips) alternating-direct current transfer or rectifier but to apply the pattern of matching current-limiting resistance driving LED by alternating current to avoid the efficiency loss, bigger size, complicated structure and life span limitation caused by the constant direct current power source. Therefore, not a few insiders predict that AC-LED technology is leading the new developing tendency for LED lighting market.
